Prayers

Holy Father, Immortal One, from Whom all goodness and grace flow, I pray to Thee in secret for the children Thou hast given me to bear. Keep them in Thy mercy and holiness, that Thy name may be glorified in them. Guide me by Thy grace, how to raise them for the glorifying of Thy Holy Name, and for the good of all people. Grant me the patience and strength needed for this. O Lord, enlighten the minds of my children with Thy wisdom, that they may learn with soul and mind to love Thee. Plant in their hearts the fear and abhorrence of every vice, that they may walk the right path without sin. Adorn their souls with purity, goodness, humility, diligence, patience, and every virtue. Guard their lips from all slander and lies. Bless my children, that they may grow in virtue and holiness under Thy protection, and in the love of honest people. May their guardian angels be with them and keep them in youth from deceitful thoughts, evil and sinful temptations of this world, and from the snares of unclean spirits. And when my children sin before Thee, turn not Thy face from them, but according to Thy great mercy be merciful to them also, for Thou alone cleansest people from every sin. Reward my children with all earthly goods and all that is needful for salvation. Keep them from wrath, anger, misfortune, evil, and torment through all the days of their lives. O Good Lord, I pray Thee, reward me too with joy and gladness from my children. Keep me in honesty and righteousness, that with my children I may stand before Thee on the day of the Last Judgment, and say to Thee without fear: Here am I, Lord, with the children Thou gavest me, that together with them I may glorify Thy most holy name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, as long as this world endures. Amen.
