How the site works

Accounts, permissions and capabilities on Orthodox Live

Three types of accounts

🙏 Parishioner

Anyone can register as a parishioner — without any verification. You can:

  • Choose one or more parishes you follow
  • Read prayers, lives of saints and the church calendar
  • Watch live-streamed services
  • Post and read classified listings

☦ Clergy (priest/abbot)

Registration requires identity verification. Once approved, you can:

  • Take over an existing church/monastery from the list, or register a new one
  • Edit details: description, history, photo, year founded
  • Set the link for a live-streamed service
  • Enter donation details (account number, PayPal)
  • Post news and announcements on the parish page

During registration you must attach a document proving your office (e.g. a diocesan certificate, an ID showing your rank). An administrator manually reviews every request before the account becomes active — this protects the community from fake accounts.

⚙ Administrator

The site owner manages all content: approves clergy, adds churches/monasteries, scripture, prayers and saints, and oversees listings.

Church or monastery registration

  1. You register as "Clergy" and choose a church/monastery from the list — or, if it isn't listed, add a new one (name, country, city, type, photo).
  2. You attach a document proving you are the responsible priest/abbot of that parish.
  3. The administrator reviews the request and approves it (usually within a few days).
  4. Once approved, you get access to the "My Church" panel where you edit all details and post news.
