Prayer to St. Petka (Paraskeva)

Prayer to St. Petka of Belgrade — of Trnovo Prayer 1. Holy Petka, saint of God, pray to God for us. Thou wast made worthy to behold the face of God as a child of our people, glorious Petka our saint, and so we have the freedom to speak to thee, our kinswoman, and to entreat thee for the salvation of our souls. Thou art the glory and praise of Belgrade, where thy miracle-working water draws great multitudes, as once did Bethesda, and gives sight to the blind, health to the paralyzed, strength to the weak, and to all cheer and joy, O virgin of Christ, our helper. Continue to be the guardian of our capital city, and confirm it in Orthodoxy; help the faithful, raise up the weak and the sorrowful, and for our departed parents, brothers and children, obtain eternal rest and eternal salvation, holy Petka, saint of God. Help all, and do not neglect me. Order the good in goodness, and multiply every good for them. That through thee God may be glorified in the Trinity, unto the ages of ages. Amen. Prayer 2. Venerable Mother Paraskeva, our wonder-working help: we pray Thee from this vale of tears, look upon us sinful and spiritually weak ones from the heavenly heights. Wipe away the tears of the weeping, ease the pains of the sick, comfort the hearts of the sorrowful and afflicted. Fulfil the requests and desires of those who pray to Thee from the heart. Pray, Mother, for all who come to Thee in Thy temple on Kalemegdan, drawing holy water from Thy living spring, dedicated to Thee, Mother. Venerable Mother Paraskeva, look upon all the suffering, the sick, the faint of faith and the unbelieving: Help, Mother, Thy devotees and all the nuns who bear Thy holy name. Help, holy Petka, all Christians, help those who have made a monastic vow before Thee and have taken Thee, Mother, as their protector. Pray, Mother Paraskeva, to the Heavenly Queen, the Most Holy Theotokos, that she may lead us on the path of salvation, that she may entreat her Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, that He may make us all worthy to stand at His right hand at His Judgment, that we may save our own souls and those of our departed fathers and mothers, and of all our spiritual fathers who led us toward salvation and left us a good example. Amen.
